About Cape Fear National Golf Course at Brunswick Forest (Leland, NC)

The newest course along North Carolina’s Cape Fear coast, this 18-hole design comes from renowned golf course designer Tim Cate, designer of more than 100 courses around the nation and many in the Carolinas that include Leopards Chase, Panthers’ Run, and Tiger’s Eye in Sunset Beach, Thistle in Calabash and Players Club in Southport.

For the Cape Fear National Golf Course, Cate incorporates a number of water features including numerous ponds and three waterfalls. The front nine also incorporate expanses of wetlands into a layout that rolls through cypress, magnolias, oaks and maples. An additional nine holes for a total of 27 holes are planned.

Reflecting Cate’s Scottish sensitivities is a massive berm covered in heather that’s a prominent feature on the back nine. With no trees in the way on the course, there is ample sand and water. And while most of the course’s hazards are faced from the tee, generous fairways make avoiding them relatively easy.

For dining or relaxing before or after a round, the course features a large clubhouse with full-service pro shop, the 19th Hole Grille, restaurant and other amenities. A practice area with driving range and putting green.
