Additional details about Barefoot Resort & Golf - Stay & Play

Designed by four highly esteemed members of golfing royalty, Barefoot Resort’s four courses are testaments to the genius of their creators. There’s Pete Dye, the son of a golf junkie who gave up a million-dollar insurance sales career to design golf courses and even got some help from Uncle Sam along the way. Joining the Army to be a paratrooper in 1944, World War II ended before Dye was deployed overseas and he spent most of his tour of duty as a greenskeeper for the Fort Bragg golf course.

Then there's Aussie Greg Norman, a.k.a. The Great White Shark, who spent 331 weeks as the PGA’s No. 1 golfer in the 80s and 90s. And Davis Love III, the son of a professional golfer who went on to become a three-time All-American at the University of North Carolina before embarking on a highly successful professional career. (And for the trivia buff, Love hit the second longest drive ever recorded in PGA history, a 476 yarder at the 2004 Mercedes Championship.)

And last, but in no way least, there’s Tom Fazio, golf architect extraordinaire, who’s designed more than 120 courses with more ranked in the country’s top 100 than any other designer.

While the semi-private Dye course has its own clubhouse, the Norman, Love and Fazio courses share a 35,000-square-foot clubhouse with all the amenities you could want. There’s also a state-of-the-art 27-acre practice facility. Also worth noting are the many amenities of Barefoot Resort and the unique shopping, dining, and entertainment found at the world-renowned Barefoot Landing.
