The golf
A slope rating of 145 puts TPC Myrtle Beach at the top end of anything in the region, and Tom Fazio built it in 1999 to host competition rather than to flatter holiday golfers. Par 72 over 6,950 yards is not extreme length, so the difficulty comes from the shaping, the bunkering and the Miniverde Bermuda greens. Reviewers who enjoy it use words like challenging and first class in the same breath, and one summed up the practical advice neatly: tough course, playable from the right tees. Playing forward here is not an admission of defeat, it is the difference between a good day and a long one.
Conditioning is a consistent strength. Regulars who return annually say it is always in excellent shape, and several noted it held up well through drought. The practice facility is the most substantial of any course in this group, with a chipping green, driving range, practice bunker, putting green and an on site golf school. Where the frustration lands is on cart path only policy, which comes up again and again in reviews. It combines with heavy tee sheets to produce rounds past five hours, and one reviewer with knee trouble found the walking involved genuinely difficult without any adjustment to price.
From 805 reviews the average is 4.58, and 596 of those are five stars, which is a strong endorsement by any measure. Only 37 reviews sit at one or two stars, and they cluster around two themes: pace of play and the occasional off period for turf, with one group finding lean fairways, dead grass areas and thin bunkers on a recent visit. Marshalling has drawn criticism too, including a ranger who parked in a playing group's line of sight and ignored them. Even the most enthusiastic reviews carry the same caveat, with one group calling it a course they unanimously want to play again on the condition that it moves quicker. The broad picture is a genuinely excellent Fazio course that gets busy and slow, and where the experience depends partly on whether carts are allowed on the grass that day.

We play here every year and it is always in excellent condition
Loved the place, loved the golf course. Cart path only added to a 5 hour+ pace, but unanimously we all want to play it again - but it has to be quicker.
Great layout and good condition..ranger rode in front of us after 2 of our foursome teed off then sat there in my sight on his phone oblivious to me looking at him. Finally, I had to ask him what he wanted and if he wouldn’t mind getting out of my line of sight. Also, Rick in the cart area was barking orders at us like we worked there. Told him to ease up as we were adding the scorecard…then he patronized us saying I’ll clean your clubs as it is included in the package..we didn’t want him anywhere near us..the folks inside the clubhouse were great
Thiis is a creme de la creme course. EVERYTHING aboout this course was first class . It was fun adn challenging to play.
Once again TPC was our favourite layout, and the condition of the course somehow seems to get better each year. Our group loved it and wants to play it again next time around. Despite several of the guys struggling to play well, it is a must play for us. We left it off our list for a couple of years, but won’t make that mistake again.
Top 3 Courses on the strand and the conditions were incredible
Of course, was in gorgeous condition. I just wish I knew how to play it.
This may be one of the most beautiful golf courses I’ve ever played. Conditions were immaculate.
Wish I could have enjoyed the faculty more had a couple of rain delays and slow slow play
Epitome of golf, great test, long with difficult greens a true test of golf for the amateur.
Didn't play got rained out but easy to work with for rain check
There was NO reason for cart path only. They should of offered a reduced price and NOT take advantage of tourists . I have problems with my knees and found it VERY DIFFICULT to play the full 18 holes. Was NOT fun.

Tell us the dates and who is coming. We quote the golf, the lodging and the tee times as one price, and a $100 deposit per golfer holds it.
