Golf package · Sunset Beach, NC

Sea Trail Golf Resort package

Three courses and the villas on one property at Sunset Beach, just over the North Carolina line and forty minutes north of Myrtle Beach. Rees Jones, Dan Maples and Willard Byrd each built one here, and the villas sit between them, so nobody drives to a tee time all week. Pick the rounds you want and we quote the golf, the beds, the tee times and taxes as one price.

  • The Jones, Maples and Byrd courses, any mix, replays available
  • Villas and townhomes on the resort, one to four bedrooms, a mile from the beach
  • Breakfast, lunch and two drinks with each morning round, lunch and two drinks after an afternoon one
  • $100 deposit per golfer holds it, balance due 30 days before you arrive

The resort

Fifty four holes and the villas in the middle of them

Pines and marsh on the Maples, big greens and pot bunkers on the Jones, lakes and doglegs on the Byrd, and the villas, the pools and the two restaurants inside the same gates. A lap of the property on this strip.

Why this one

The golf and the beds share a driveway

Sea Trail is one of the few places on the Grand Strand where three courses, the villas, the pools and the restaurants are all on one property. The group rolls out of bed and onto the first tee, walks from the eighteenth to lunch, and the cars stay parked until somebody wants the beach. A group that wants a lot of golf with none of the driving gets that here.

  1. 01

    Three courses, no driving

The Maples through the pines to the Calabash Creek marsh, the Jones with its wide fairways and big raised greens, and the Byrd with its doglegs and lakes, all starting a cart ride from the villas. A different course every morning, a replay in the afternoon if you want one, and the range and practice greens beside the clubhouse.

  2. 02

Meals and drinks built into the round

A morning tee time comes with the breakfast buffet, the lunch buffet and two drink vouchers. An afternoon tee time comes with lunch and the two vouchers. The vouchers are good at Sunset Prime or the 55 Bistro Bar on the resort for a soft drink or a domestic draft beer each, so the day's food is sorted before anyone leaves the villa.

  3. 03

One price, with a free night in season

Stay three nights in the spring or fall windows and the fourth night is free. Stay two nights in summer or winter and the third is free. Send the dates and a head count and the quote comes back as one number per golfer: the rounds, the villa, the meals, the tee times and the taxes. Nothing waiting for you at the counter and no platform fees.

The courses

Three courses, one clubhouse road

A Dan Maples, a Rees Jones and a Willard Byrd on the same property, opened between 1986 and 1990 and all within a few minutes of the villas. Play each once, or play the one you like twice. Ratings are from golfers who played them.

  • The original

Sea Trail Golf Club - Maples Course

    Dan Maples · par 72, 6,374 yards, slope 134 · 3.2 from 513 reviews

Dan Maples opened the resort in 1986 with this one, through live oaks and pines to the Calabash Creek marsh. Waste bunkers, water on a dozen holes and a short first hole worth a go at. The shortest of the three and the closest to the villas.

  • Toughest of the three

Sea Trail Golf Club - Jones Course

    Rees Jones · par 72, 6,711 yards, slope 135 · 3.8 from 1,070 reviews

Rees Jones, 1990. Wide fairways, pot bunkers, mounding and big raised greens, the most traditional of the three and usually called the hardest. The best rated course on the property and the round to play first.

  • Renovated

Sea Trail Golf Club - Byrd Course

    Willard Byrd · par 72, 6,649 yards, slope 130 · 3.6 from 942 reviews

Willard Byrd, 1990, and the last of the three to open. Doglegs, fairway bunkers on nearly every hole and ponds up to twenty acres that only come into play on a few. Recently renovated, and the prettiest round on the resort.

Any mix counts. Three rounds on three courses is the usual shape, and a long weekend that plays the Jones twice is a Sea Trail package too. The planner spaces the rounds across your stay and keeps the group's tee times together. Want a round off the property as well? Oyster Bay, Thistle and the Big Cats are all within twenty minutes, and the planner can add any of them to the same quote.

Room for the whole group One to four bedroom villas with full kitchens, and three bedroom townhomes at Sawmill with up to six queen beds

Somewhere to settle the bets The 55 Bistro Bar and Sunset Prime on the resort, where the drink vouchers are good

Where you sleep

Villas between the three courses

The package is built around the villas at Sea Trail, a mile from the sand at Sunset Beach. One to four bedroom villas and condos with full kitchens, living rooms and screened porches in the Club Villas, Champions, River Creek and Royal Poste communities, and the newer three bedroom Sawmill Townhomes with up to six queen beds, a washer and dryer and a screened porch in every one. Pools, a fitness room, racquet courts and walking trails are on the property, and the two restaurants are a short walk or a cart ride from any of them.

Sunset Beach is the small island town at the south end of Brunswick County, with Calabash and its seafood restaurants five minutes away. The meals and the free night offers below only apply when the group sleeps on the resort, so this is the one package where the villas are the point rather than an option.

Three ways to play it

Most booked

Stay and play with meals

The standard Sea Trail package: villa nights and a round a day on any of the three courses, with the food and drink built in.

  • Morning rounds: breakfast buffet, lunch buffet and two drink vouchers
  • Afternoon rounds: lunch buffet and two drink vouchers
  • Vouchers good at Sunset Prime or 55 Bistro Bar for a soft drink or a domestic 16 oz draft beer each
  • Vouchers are issued with each round, dated, and good on that day only

Most golf

36 hole replay package

Go back out after lunch. A second round on the same day is booked in advance with the first, so the tee time is held rather than left to chance.

  • Two rounds in a day on the resort, the replay booked ahead
  • Breakfast and lunch still included
  • Two drink vouchers still included
  • Subject to availability on the day's tee sheet

Free night

Stay longer, play more

Add a night and the resort covers it. Which offer applies depends on the arrival date, and it needs a qualifying package stay and villa availability.

  • Spring and fall: stay three nights and the fourth is free, for arrivals from 2 March to 31 May and 2 September to 14 November
  • Summer and winter: stay two nights and the third is free, for arrivals from 1 June to 1 September and 15 November to 1 March

The number depends on the season, the courses, the villa and how many are in the group, so there is no single sticker price. Send the dates and a head count and the quote comes back with everything on it, including which free night offer applies on your dates. Inclusions can vary with the tee time, the type of round and availability, and the planner confirms exactly what is in yours before anything is charged. Other lengths of stay are quoted the same way.

Pick the week. We will hold the tee times.
