What you are paying for at TPC Myrtle Beach
The pedigree
Tom Fazio
A Resort Style layout that opened in 1999 and plays to a par of 72 over 6,950 yards.
The test
Slope 145
A slope of 145 over 6,950 yards from the tips. The back tees are a genuine examination for a scratch player, and the forward sets keep everyone else moving.
The greens
Miniverde Bermuda
Putting surfaces are Miniverde Bermuda. The practice ground carries a chipping green, a driving range, a golf school, a practice bunker and a putting green, so the speed is no surprise on the first green.
The verdict
4.6 out of 5
Across 787 reviews left by golfers who booked through us, 89% scored TPC Myrtle Beach four stars or better. None of it is edited and none of it is paid for.

The course
The golf at TPC Myrtle Beach
A slope rating of 145 puts TPC Myrtle Beach at the top end of anything in the region, and Tom Fazio built it in 1999 to host competition rather than to flatter holiday golfers. Par 72 over 6,950 yards is not extreme length, so the difficulty comes from the shaping, the bunkering and the Miniverde Bermuda greens. Reviewers who enjoy it use words like challenging and first class in the same breath, and one summed up the practical advice neatly: tough course, playable from the right tees. Playing forward here is not an admission of defeat, it is the difference between a good day and a long one.

Conditioning is a consistent strength. Regulars who return annually say it is always in excellent shape, and several noted it held up well through drought. The practice facility is the most substantial of any course in this group, with a chipping green, driving range, practice bunker, putting green and an on site golf school. Where the frustration lands is on cart path only policy, which comes up again and again in reviews. It combines with heavy tee sheets to produce rounds past five hours, and one reviewer with knee trouble found the walking involved genuinely difficult without any adjustment to price.
From 805 reviews the average is 4.58, and 596 of those are five stars, which is a strong endorsement by any measure. Only 37 reviews sit at one or two stars, and they cluster around two themes: pace of play and the occasional off period for turf, with one group finding lean fairways, dead grass areas and thin bunkers on a recent visit. Marshalling has drawn criticism too, including a ranger who parked in a playing group's line of sight and ignored them. Even the most enthusiastic reviews carry the same caveat, with one group calling it a course they unanimously want to play again on the condition that it moves quicker. The broad picture is a genuinely excellent Fazio course that gets busy and slow, and where the experience depends partly on whether carts are allowed on the grass that day.

TPC was also amazing. He Starter deserves lots of kudos for handling the large groups at the start. Loved that he met us halfway through and discussed the course and how to play it. We are used to being rushed through back home so it was refreshing to be treated with such hospitality.
Course was saturated, not enough drinking water
Great service & great group!
I always have a really great experience here. I've been to Myrtle Beach twice over the last two years, and i've played the course four times. We always plan a round at TPC Myrtle and end up going back later in the trip because we have such a great time there.

We play here every year and it is always in excellent condition
Loved the place, loved the golf course. Cart path only added to a 5 hour+ pace, but unanimously we all want to play it again - but it has to be quicker.
It beats me up every year, hence the missing star
Great condition in draught and really fun
Good conditions, good course, good staff
Great layout and good condition..ranger rode in front of us after 2 of our foursome teed off then sat there in my sight on his phone oblivious to me looking at him. Finally, I had to ask him what he wanted and if he wouldn’t mind getting out of my line of sight. Also, Rick in the cart area was barking orders at us like we worked there. Told him to ease up as we were adding the scorecard…then he patronized us saying I’ll clean your clubs as it is included in the package..we didn’t want him anywhere near us..the folks inside the clubhouse were great
Thiis is a creme de la creme course. EVERYTHING aboout this course was first class . It was fun adn challenging to play.
Great shape and challenging.
Once again TPC was our favourite layout, and the condition of the course somehow seems to get better each year. Our group loved it and wants to play it again next time around. Despite several of the guys struggling to play well, it is a must play for us. We left it off our list for a couple of years, but won’t make that mistake again.
Excellent course!
This is the reason I wanted to play Myrtle Beach.
best course conditions on the beach
Excellent course. Fabulous condition
Best course we played. Very well maintained
Fantastic. Love tpc.
Awesome course! Loved everything this course and service!
Great course in fantastic shape.
Beautiful golf course, great condition. Alot of walking
Nice bit oricey
Top 3 Courses on the strand and the conditions were incredible
We only played it once
Of course, was in gorgeous condition. I just wish I knew how to play it.
This may be one of the most beautiful golf courses I’ve ever played. Conditions were immaculate.
Wish I could have enjoyed the faculty more had a couple of rain delays and slow slow play
Very challenging course.
1st time there well worth the drive
Epitome of golf, great test, long with difficult greens a true test of golf for the amateur.
Didn't play got rained out but easy to work with for rain check
There was NO reason for cart path only. They should of offered a reduced price and NOT take advantage of tourists . I have problems with my knees and found it VERY DIFFICULT to play the full 18 holes. Was NOT fun.
Great track,A 5 hour plus round is no fun. Staff was great course is great but there are a lot of players out there paying a lot of money and should not be there. Almost felt like a money grab
While it was a nice course I was expecting more from a TPC Course. The layout was nice but maybe I was expecting more scenic holes
Wish I could’ve started on 1 instead of 10
Due to the rain, we only played 2 1/2 holes. Had to take a rain check which was not good considering we were flying out the next morning. Credit to the pro shop would have been a lot better. We were planning on buying stuff anyway. Just made us spend more money that we didn’t need to. Other than that, the weather was the problem. Excellent staff though.
Tough course. Playable from the right tees
Had high expectations for this course based on past history, but we were all very disappointed this time out. Course was in lousy shape. Fairways were very lean. A lot of dead grass areas. Traps were thin and greens were slow. Very surprised that one of our “go to” courses was in such bad shape.
In good shape and good pace of play.
A few rough areas, but still great.
Fairways and teeboxes were very disappointing.
Nice course… course conditions were very poor.
The greens were in the worst shape I’ve seen from this course. But still better than most
Nice people good course
Very impressed with the service and clubhouse. Only drawback is that there is no staff monitoring pace of play after 6:00pm or so. Some very slow groups that could have used some encouragement.
Very nice in great shape
Great condition. Unfortunately very wet and cart path only when we played. But really nice
To many cart path only holes. No 18 is one of the worst designed holes I have ever played. If it is to be cart path only the cart path should be within reason. Over priced
course is beautiful and in the best shape of all courses we played. 5
beautiful course. started on hole 10 even though tee times were made 359 days in advance.
This is a very challenging but beautiful course. One suggestion that I would recommend is to place markers on the #10 cart path to indicate where the bridges are located.
Always great shape. Walking some holes a pain. But understand why
TPC is top notch.
Best shape of all the courses we play.
Awesome course, great staff, had a wonderful time.
This course we okay. In my opinion this wasn't up to the TPC standards. The course was nice. I rated this course as my number (5) out of all the courses I played during my time
This course was in good shape. It’s a tough course I would rate this as a 5
Professional, well run facility and conditions.
Course was in excellent condition and a joy to play
little corporate, in great shape tho minus a few bunkers
Group favorite.
Did not play rained out.
Always another great course to play.
We have golfed in Myrtle for six years and done approximately 30 courses. This is by far the best course in the Myrtle Beach area a must do on your next golf outing. The course is immaculate.
very disappointed
Greens were not in good shape
One of my favorite courses in Myrtle but the overall care of the course was lacking this year. Vertacut greens and semi poor maintenance all around
I did not play this one.
Another excellent course well kept
Great all around
It was a beautiful course. The greens were verticut and seeded while we were there . The starter and staff were not nice at all.
Lots of fun..........
