A Traditional Inland Style layout that opened in 1972 and plays to a par of 72 over 7,059 yards.
The test
Slope 144
A slope of 144 over 7,059 yards from the tips. The back tees are a genuine examination for a scratch player, and the forward sets keep everyone else moving.
The greens
Bermuda
Putting surfaces are Bermuda. The practice ground carries a chipping green, a driving range and a putting green, so the speed is no surprise on the first green.

The golf itself earns respect from those who caught it in good condition. One reviewer described a very enjoyable layout and rated the course in very nice shape aside from wet bunkers after rain and a few black spots on a couple of greens. Another simply said they really liked the course. That is a small but consistent signal that when Wedgefield is presented properly, the design holds up.
The caveat is that the evidence base is very small and the operational record is mixed. There are 17 reviews in total, averaging 3.41, split as four five star, four four star, five three star, three two star and one one star. That is a wide spread with no clear consensus. The most detailed negative review describes arriving to find the front nine closed for maintenance, greens in poor shape, and a forty five minute wait at the turn to replay the back nine, after which the group played nine holes and left. Tropical Storm Debby also appears in the review language, with at least one round lost to it. The most recent review on file dates to November 2025, so current conditioning is harder to verify than at busier courses.

An okay course but most likely would not play again.
Unable to play as course was closed due to tropical storm Debby.
Front 9 closed for maintenance. Greens awful. Wait on turn to replay back 9 - 45 minutes. Played 9 and left.
a pleasant surprise.

Other than wet bunkers due to rain and a few black spots on just a couple of the greens, this course was in very nice shape. Very enjoyable layout!
