Why groups book it
What you are paying for at Rivers Edge Golf Club & Plantation
The pedigree
Arnold Palmer
A Ocean-Bay-Waterway layout that opened in 1987 and plays to a par of 72 over 6,909 yards.
The test
Slope 149
A slope of 149 over 6,909 yards from the tips. The back tees are a genuine examination for a scratch player, and the forward sets keep everyone else moving.
The greens
Bermuda
Putting surfaces are Bermuda. The practice ground carries a driving range and a putting green, so the speed is no surprise on the first green.

The course
The golf at Rivers Edge Golf Club & Plantation
Rivers Edge opened in 1999 as an Arnold Palmer coastal links layout, and the numbers explain its reputation. Par is 72 over 6,909 yards, which is not long by modern standards, yet the slope reaches 149 and the difficulty rating is hard. That gap between yardage and slope means trouble is positioned rather than distant, and the marshland and water views that reviewers praise are the same features that collect golf balls. Greens are Bermuda, and practice covers a driving range and a putting green.
Reviewers respond to two things above all: condition and scenery. Beautiful, challenging, views and layout all rank among the most common words used, and the phrase great shape recurs so often it functions as a summary. One reviewer paired the compliment with a warning to bring your best game, which is the right expectation to set. Staff are described repeatedly as friendly and welcoming.
The review split is the strongest here. Across 1,398 reviews the average is 4.48, with 883 five star and 375 four star ratings against 94 three star, 23 two star and 23 one star. Ninety percent of reviewers rated it four stars or better, and fewer than 4 percent went below three. The criticism that does appear is worth reading before you book. Pace of play is the most substantive, with slow ranking among the frequent review words and one golfer describing an afternoon round that started at 1:57pm and did not finish until 7:15pm, leaving no break between rounds that day. A second thread concerns detail work rather than the golf itself, including poor tee boxes, weeds and an artificial mat in place of turf on the 15th tee. Weather disruption also features, with frost delays and rainouts noted, though reviewers consistently say the club handled both well with vouchers and flexibility. With the most recent review logged in late July 2026, the feedback here is current rather than historical, which matters when the headline complaint is something as changeable as pace of play.

Beautiful course in amazing shape.
Best course of the trip. Course staff were excellent. Course condition was immaculate. Greens were still on the slow side for what we prefer, but great experience and would play this course every trip.
Great shape. Bring your A-game!!
Course was in good shape.
Course in great shape. Very scenic. Staff very friendly.
The jewel of the week everyone in my group loved this course outstanding. this gets a ten
A gem of a course in very good condition. Holes on the waters edge are challenging and necessitate bold decisions and bravery in order to score low. COurse in great shape and will be playing here again.
This was truly the star of the week perhaps five star what an amazing course everyone in my group raved about River's edge and wants to return and play it again. This was best play of week.
Little far of a drive but loved the course

Great golf course
Another gem.. great hospitality.. frost delay again but they were very accommodating
Love this course so much I’m looking for property here
Staff was great
Slow group ahead of us slowed us down more than 30 minutes. This impacted the enjoyment and the remainder of our day with time crunches. Not acceptable for a course this nice.
Rivers edge also in nice shape, staff was wonderful
Like the facility, course, views were solid, pro shop wasn’t desirable
Beautiful course. Challenging layout. Perfect condition
Love this challenging layout. You use every club in the bag. Staff was rooting for me on my birdie try on Arnie’s Revenge but just lipped out.
Conditions were good, too much sand. Greens were slow. Staff friendly.
I had played once before here and love the layout. The layout is an outstanding test of Arnold Palmer designed target golf, which I like, but is very challenging. The fairways, grounds, and paths were in excellent shape. The greens were in above average condition but rolling too slow. The staff and facilities were top notch!
One of my favorite but toughest courses I’ve played. Never gets any easier but it challenges to make good golf shots
Favorite coastal course
Challenging layout, great condition. Greens were a bit slow though.
Best overall condition and experience
Excellent golf course
Solid in every aspect from the cart guys to the course. You can never go wrong at Rivers Edge
Amazing views and helpful staff
Well conditioned, couple of goofy holes but otherwise enjoyable

Will be back! Great course, great condition and great hospitality!!!
Course was in excellent shape and a great layout!
Super course. Challenging but fair. Enjoyed the holes around the water, especially the 9th hole!
Hospitality and amenities were top shelf from time we arrived. Course was in good shape and a fun layout to play.
great track in great shape
We got rained out this year, played it last year..excellent course
Just an awesome day and course. Would have liked to see quicker greens but l will be back. Only issue of consequence was putting other groups in the middle of our 11 groups.
Great suggestion by Adam to play this course-very challenging and beautiful views.
Tea boxes were very poor. Greens were average. Lots of weeds. Grass mat on 15th T made me feel like I was at a substandard driving range.
