Located on the campus of Coastal Carolina University, the General James Hackler Golf Course has seen a number of changes over the past several years with new greens, bunkers and tees and a new name as well.

First opened in 1968 as Quail Creek, this Gene Hamm designed course was completely revamped in 2010-11 and offers a classic layout that provides a great round of golf for players of all levels.

In addition to new greens on some of its holes, 60 bunkers were eliminated in the course’s makeover, some water features added and a new practice facility built. The course features wide fairways and what some say are the largest greens along the Grand Strand. And since the course is operated by Horry-Georgetown Technical College and Coastal Carolina University and used in programs teaching golf course operations and maintenance, it’s always in tiptop shape.
