About Wild Wing Plantation - Avocet Course (Conway, SC)

The challenging product of collaboration between PGA golfer Larry Nelson and golf course architect Jeff Bauer, the Wild Wing Golf Course opened in 1993. The course features contoured fairways, elevated tees, double fairways, generous landing areas, grass bunkers and water hazards carefully placed for maximum effect.

Golf Digest has honored it as one of the 10 best new resort courses in America and its 14th hole was named by the magazine as one of the best 18 there are. The Avocet Course at Wild Wing Plantation plays around 7,100 yards off the back tees to 5,300 off the ladies. Changes in elevation, water or bunkers make themselves known on just about every hole but options are always left open for high handicappers.

Played 7/23 Been several weeks since aeration, course tee to green was very good. Greens are healing nicely. An occasional putt went off line from and odd bump here and there. But most held their line and the speed was reasonable. Golfers were allowed to ride one to a cart if they chose. Great value for the money. Beer was cold and had a great burger after the round.
