Every year, thousands of golfers flock to the Golf Capital to play in the World’s Largest Amateur golf tournament. With more than 40 courses participating, this allows golfers to play several different layouts along the Grand Strand with the hopes of making it to the Championship round held at the 2013 Myrtle Beach Golf Course of the Year, the Barefoot Resort & Golf Dye Club.
This year was no different, with Hurricane Hermine off the east coast threatening to cause damage with heavy rain the tournament completed the four qualifying rounds and two holes of the Championship round.
This would crown the 2016 Myrtle Beach World Amateur Champion as Kevin Fajt. Fajt won the event after trailing by two shots going into day four and winning by two shots over Wes Sammons.
Last year’s winner Anthony Baker finished third. Below is a list of the posted scores for Fajt.
- Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club = 69
- Legends Golf Resort – Heathland = 73
- River Hills Golf & Country Club = 78
- Heritage Club = 70
Congratulations to all of the 64 flight winners, skins winners, parent and child winners and international pairs winners. A big thank you to Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday and its volunteers for another successful event.
As Always,
